Dear Bay Shore School District Families,
Welcome! Bienvenido! Bienvenue! Salvete! Huan yíng!
Language learning opens doors and builds bridges for all ages. It adds great value to the educational experience by embedding cultural competency for all. Studies have shown that students who are able to communicate in multiple languages perform better in school.
At Bay Shore, we are committed to the study of world languages and building cultural competency among our K-12 student body. We strive to provide access to the very best teachers in order to promote biliteracy for our world language students. Students typically begin their language study in grade 7 and are able to master their respective language by taking highly rigorous courses through our Advanced Placement (AP) classes and International Baccalaureate (IB) program. Bay Shore is proud to offer our students the opportunity to begin biliteracy studies
at a young age through our dual language program. Students new to the English language have multiple avenues to learn English through our ENL program, which includes participation in dual language and content-based courses beginning in middle school and continuing through their high school experience.
I hope you will take some time to review our curriculum information. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out.
Sincerely,
Patricia Rogers
