Dear Current or Prospective IB Student,

Welcome to Bay Shore High School’s International Baccalaureate program!

The mission of the International Baccalaureate (IB) program is, “To develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.”  Whether you pursue the IB Diploma track or take one IB course, it is our hope that you will come away with a deeper understanding of the world around you and a greater empathy for the people and cultures across the globe.

Our goal with this website is to provide an information base for current and future IB students.  Current students will find important information about deadlines, extended essays and other requirements.  Families who are in the process of deciding whether IB is the right choice for their student will find background information to help guide their decision.

Pursuing an IB Diploma, or even taking a few IB classes, is not an easy route.  But I can promise it is one that will help you grow as a student and a citizen of the world.  You will test the limits of your mind and discover untapped abilities in yourself. The rewards are limitless.

If you have further questions after reviewing the information contained here or need assistance deciding if IB is right for you, please do not hesitate to reach out.  My door is always open.

Sincerely,

Jonathan Nelson
